      Clostridium butyricum 丁酸梭菌 has a dual function of preventing the abnormal proliferation and development of pathogenic and spoilage bacteria in the intestine, thereby correcting the imbalance of intestinal flora and reducing the production of enterotoxins. Clostridium butyricum has a biological antagonistic effect on Clostridium welchii, and it has been preliminarily confirmed that it inhibits the expression of toxic proteins through tight contact with cells. The inhibitory mechanism still needs further research. When two types of bacteria are co cultured in vitro, the toxicity of Clostridium difficile is significantly reduced or even disappeared. As long as the germination and expansion rate of Clostridium butyricum spores is twice that of Clostridium difficile, the short chain fatty acids produced are more effective in inhibiting the germination and growth of Clostridium difficile spores. Research by Chen Qiuhong and others has shown that Clostridium butyricum has strong biological characteristics of high temperature resistance, acid resistance, and bile salt resistance. It has a strong inhibitory effect on intestinal pathogenic bacteria such as Escherichia coli, Salmonella, and Shigella, while significantly promoting the growth of beneficial bacteria in the intestine. The fermented extract of Clostridium butyricum increased the live bacterial count of Lactobacillus acidophilus, Bifidobacterium, and Streptococcus faecalis compared to the control group.

Adding a certain amount of Clostridium butyricum to the feed of Miiu fish significantly increased the activity of serum phenolic oxidase and acid phosphatase, as well as the activity of lysozyme and IgM levels in serum and body surface mucus (P<0.05).
