Beer yeast powder is rich in nutrients, containing various nutrients such as protein, vitamins, minerals, and dietary fiber. It can to some extent replace the following components in livestock and poultry feed:
Partial protein feed: Beer yeast powder has a high protein content and a relatively balanced amino acid composition, containing various essential amino acids for the human body (livestock and poultry). In animal feed, it can replace some plant-based protein feed, such as soybean meal, rapeseed meal, cotton meal, etc. For example, adding a moderate amount of beer yeast powder to pig feed can reduce the use of soybean meal while meeting the protein needs of pigs. However, due to the relatively low content of sulfur-containing amino acids such as methionine in beer yeast powder, it is necessary to pay attention to using it in combination with other feed rich in sulfur-containing amino acids when replacing it to ensure the balance of amino acids.
Partial vitamin premix: Beer yeast powder is rich in B vitamins (such as thiamine, riboflavin, niacin, pantothenic acid, etc.), vitamin D, vitamin E and other vitamins. Beer yeast powder can replace some vitamin premix in livestock and poultry feed, especially for young livestock and poultry with high vitamin requirements or those under stress. For example, adding an appropriate amount of beer yeast powder to chicken feed can provide a certain amount of vitamins, meet the vitamin needs of chicken growth and development, and reduce the amount of vitamin premix added. However, it should be noted that beer yeast powder cannot completely replace vitamin premix, as vitamin premix also contains other essential vitamins for the growth of livestock and poultry, and the proportions of various vitamins are scientifically formulated.
Partial functional feed additives: The dietary fiber and yeast cell wall components in beer yeast powder have a certain prebiotic effect, which can regulate the balance of intestinal microbiota in livestock and poultry and promote intestinal health. Therefore, in livestock and poultry feed, it can replace some functional feed additives, such as probiotics, prebiotics, etc. For example, adding beer yeast powder to piglet feed can reduce the use of probiotics and achieve similar effects in improving intestinal health and increasing feed utilization.
Partial energy feed (limited substitution): Although the energy content of beer yeast powder is relatively low, in some cases, such as in animal feed that does not have a particularly high energy demand (such as pigs in the later stage of fattening, ruminants in the maintenance period, etc.), it can be partially replaced with energy feed, such as bran. However, due to the lower energy density of beer yeast powder compared to traditional energy feed, the substitution amount should not be too large, otherwise it may affect the energy intake and production performance of livestock and poultry.
It should be noted that although beer yeast powder can replace some of the above ingredients, it cannot completely replace them in practical applications. It should be scientifically and reasonably matched and adjusted according to the type, growth stage, nutritional requirements, and overall formula of the feed for livestock and poultry.
