What are the environmental impacts of yeast hydrolysate in aquaculture?

Yeast hydrolysate has the following main environmental impacts in aquaculture:

Improving water quality

Reducing ammonia nitrogen content: In the process of aquaculture, residual feed, feces, etc. will decompose to produce ammonia nitrogen. The beneficial components contained in yeast hydrolysates can promote the growth and reproduction of microorganisms in the water. These microorganisms can participate in the decomposition and transformation of nitrogen-containing organic matter, converting ammonia nitrogen into harmless substances such as nitrogen through nitrification, denitrification, etc., and releasing them into the air, thereby reducing the accumulation of ammonia nitrogen in the water, alleviating the toxic effects of ammonia nitrogen on aquatic organisms, and improving water quality.

Reducing nitrite accumulation: Similarly, by leveraging its positive impact on the microbial community in water bodies, the ability of relevant microorganisms to convert nitrite can be enhanced, allowing nitrite to be further reduced to nitrogen and avoiding the accumulation of large amounts of nitrite in water bodies. Excessive nitrite content can affect the normal physiological functions of aquatic animals and the ecological balance of water bodies. Yeast hydrolysate helps to maintain it at a safe level.

Decomposing organic pollutants: Various organic pollutants such as feed residues, animal and plant residues, etc. are often present in aquaculture water bodies. Yeast hydrolysate can stimulate the activity of some microorganisms with decomposition ability in water bodies, accelerate the decomposition of these organic pollutants, and convert them into simple inorganic substances such as carbon dioxide and water, thereby purifying water bodies, reducing the risk of eutrophication, maintaining water clarity and a good ecological environment.

Regulating the microbial community in water bodies

Promoting the growth of beneficial microorganisms: Yeast hydrolysate contains rich nutrients such as amino acids, small peptides, nucleotides, etc. These substances can provide nutrients for beneficial microorganisms (such as photosynthetic bacteria, nitrifying bacteria, etc.) after entering the water body, promoting their large-scale reproduction. Beneficial microorganisms play many important functions in the aquatic ecosystem, such as purifying water quality and inhibiting harmful bacteria, which in turn helps to build a stable and healthy aquatic microbial ecosystem.

Inhibiting the growth of harmful microorganisms: By changing the nutritional structure of water bodies and the competitive relationship between microorganisms, yeast hydrolysates help to inhibit the growth and reproduction of harmful microorganisms (such as pathogenic bacteria like Vibrio). When the number of harmful microorganisms in the water body is controlled, the probability of aquatic animals being infected with diseases will be reduced, which reduces the possibility of using a large number of drugs for disease outbreaks and avoids the pollution and damage caused by drug residues to the water environment.

In terms of sediment improvement

Reduce the release of harmful substances in sediment: The sediment of aquaculture water bodies such as ponds often accumulates large amounts of organic matter, heavy metal ions, and other harmful substances, which can easily be released into the water body under certain conditions, causing secondary pollution. Yeast hydrolysate can regulate the activity of microorganisms in sediment, promote the gradual decomposition and stabilization of organic matter in sediment, reduce the possibility of harmful substances being released into the water, and ensure that the water body is in a good ecological state for a long time.

Improving sediment structure: Its components help to improve the physical structure of sediment, making it more porous and breathable, which is beneficial for the survival of benthic organisms. At the same time, it can enhance the metabolic activity of microorganisms in sediment, further improving the self purification ability of the entire aquatic ecosystem, and helping to create a suitable environment for aquaculture from the sediment level.

Overall, yeast hydrolysates have a positive effect on improving and regulating the environment in aquaculture, contributing to the construction of a healthy, stable, and sustainable aquaculture ecological environment.
